The Bolshoi Opera and Orchestra have been at the centre of Russian musical life for over 200 years. They are renowned the world over and we are delighted to welcome them to the Perth Festival. Their performance includes extracts from Tchaikovsky’s great opera Eugene Onegin, featuring some of the principal opera singers from the Bolshoi Opera Company. In the second half the orchestra, under Alexander Lazarev, will perform a suite from Prokofiev’s brilliant ballet Cinderella, which showed his particular gift in writing for film and ballet. To hear the Bolshoi Orchestra and principals of the Bolshoi Opera perform in Perth will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of this year’s festival.
Unfortunately Alexander Lazarev is unwell and cannot now conduct.
