Barbara has been exhibiting at Frames for 25 years and during that time has delighted us with her witty and elegant linocuts. Barbara studied printmaking and illustration at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and has been working professionally since then. This exhibition will feature over 25 works which reveal her immense skill in her chosen medium. Her subjects range from landscapes to hilarious interpretations of poems, sayings and myths including her obvious delight in farm animals and cats. Wall Painting by Alison Whyte
Alison’s working practice involves observing the everyday and re-discovering environmental spaces. This project aims to take elements from a particular location and to project them back into the space in a series of patterns. www.aliwhyte.blogspot.com Her wall painting will be found on the rear outside wall of Browns Pharmacy Healthcare on 196 High Street, Perth, PH1 5PA. Access via the alleyway to the left of the shop or from Scott Street Car Park. The painting will be done at the beginning of May so it will run for the whole of the Festival.
Perth Civic Trust Guided Walks
Perth Civic Trust was founded in 1967 with one of its main objectives being the conservation of the environment be it buildings, monuments, townscape and landscape of architectural, scenic or historic merit or of high amenity value in Perth. The Trust has been delighted to be involved with Perth Festival of the Arts from the beginning, leading guided walks around Perth as its contribution, and we are particularly pleased to be participating this year – the 40th Festival. The walks take place in small groups, each with a guide. This year the walks are taken from the booklet Walks Around Historic Perth – the title of the very successful booklet written and sponsored by the Trust and published by Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust in 2010. Last year we covered two of the four walks in the booklet and this year we cover the other two – The City Centre and Tay Street and the Bridges.
