Sharleen Spiteri, who is famous for fronting the multi-million selling UK pop rock band Texas with three multi-platinum albums and thirteen top ten hits, has now joined this year’s Perth Festival line-up. She will perform at Perth Concert Hall on Saturday 29th May. Tickets will go on sale on Monday 29th March.

After one solo record she is about to launch her second and this time she's thinking not just music but movies. Picture it - a whole record of her favourite movie songs recorded in Hollywood. It is called The Movie Songbook. The follow up to her top three debut solo album Melody, The Movie Songbook is the ninth studio album Sharleen’s made in an incredible twenty one year recording career. A collection of Sharleen’s favourite soundtracks, it stands as her most dynamically diverse album yet, a kaleidoscopic musical journey from pop to country via disco, bossa-nova, folk, rockabilly, jazz and breathtaking balladry.

It was unreal. From my spontaneous idea of doing a record of film songs to suddenly be stood in Sinatra’s studio, with his musicians, Michael Jackson’s guitarist and the guy who sang harmonies for Luther Vandross. Phil Ramone on production was just phenomenal. The whole session was, literally, like being in a movie. Sharleen Spiteri
