The programme includes the Scottish premiere of a brand new percussion concerto by Stewart Copeland, the former
drummer of The Police.
Vasily Petrenko
is Chief Conductor of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. He is also Principal Conductor of the National
Youth Orchestra of Great Britain; Chief Conductor of the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, and Principal Guest Conductor of the
Mikhailovsky Theatre in St Petersburg, his native city; and makes guest appearances with major orchestras throughout Europe, the
USA, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.
The award-winning
Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra
is the UK's oldest continuing professional symphony orchestra,
established in 1840. The Orchestra gives more than 60 concerts each season in its home, Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, as well as
concerts in venues across the city; and performs widely throughout the UK and internationally. The dynamic musical partnership
between the Orchestra and Vasily Petrenko has attracted world-wide critical acclaim.
